The heartbeat!!

We have a heartbeat! Our appointment this morning showed a heartbeat of 120 beats per minute. Everything is looking perfect. Here is the ultrasound. The blob floating is the yoke sac. The tiny image attached to it nestled up along the edge of the empty space is our pride and joy.

We are showing that we are 6 weeks and 2 days along. This is so much less than what we thought we were.

Our expected due date is September 12, 2010. YAY! Baby Weiss is on the way!

Our next appointment is next week with an ultrasound included. I love our new doctor. Everything happens for a reason.

Telling the family

On December 27, when we found out our fate, we were planning on going to Dave's family for breakfast, and then my family for dinner.

Dave's sisters were in town for his niece's baptism. Nancy (his mom) was greeted by her grandkids (Tyler and Ava) saying "Grandma! Aunt Alisa is pregnant!" Poor Nancy! She didn't understand what they were saying. I asked Ava to repeat what she said, and she repeated it. Still! No one understood it. I finally said, "she said Aunt Alisa is pregnant."

There were many cheers and hugs. This was the day after Vern's (Dave's dad)birthday. Thankfully, the baptism on that day did not leave room for birthday cake. We ate it after breakfast to celebrate instead. What a special, special way to share our news!!!

We were planning to go to my parents house for dinner with my Godparents. What a perfect day to find out! We gave my Godparents their Christmas gifts, and then I told them that I had one more gift for them. I told them that we were pregnant.

We are currently 5 weeks, as of today, Jan 8, 2010. My blood test shows that we are developing a Little Baby Weiss well.

We are convinced that this time we will be blessed with a child.

Finally!

After a few bumps in the road accompanied by some concerns, we are having a baby!!!!!!

To sum it up: Our old doctor took a blood test to study the discovery of reasons why we are not having luck.

The blood tests showed everything normal....ugh! I was hoping for a problem so we could seek out a solution.

My doctor said that my levels suggested a period on December 18. Nothing. We took a pregnancy test, and it was negative.

Dave and I have been talking for several days after my updates of yet another day with an absent period.

I was convinced that another test would still be negative. A missed period is not foreign to us.

I had pictures that were developed, and I needed them for a Christmas present. I asked Dave that while I got ready for breakfast with his (and my) family, if he could pick up the pictures as well as get a pregnancy test.

Being the "bargain shopper" that he is, he was excited to get a deal. Three pregnancy test for a low price.

Well, we only needed one. I said "what the heck", and took the test.

I said loudly, "OH MY GOD!"

Dave said, "stop messing around." I marched down the stairs and said, "see for yourself."

We both looked at each other, and smiled. He said, "no s***." Then he said, "get ready, we're late for breakfast."

When the shock wore off, he accompanied me as I was getting ready, and we discussed telling the family.
